Is it worth it? Top 10 Moving Insights

Is it worth it? Top 10 Moving Insights

Recently I took on the arduous task of downsizing and relocating both my home and office in an emotional process I now call resistant surrender. The gamut of emotions actually began months before the decision to sell my home and sub-lease new office space. It’s always easy, once on the other side of big life changes, to reflect and see how every step of the process was divinely orchestrated. It was clearly all meant to fall apart to be able to come together better than it was before, and I find myself in complete gratitude…now.

However, if you happened to see me anytime in June or July, you might not have recognized the frazzled and tired person you saw. But even then, I had a strong knowing that once the changes were completed, things would be better than not having made the decision to get out of my comfort zone and release what no longer serves me. The fear of stepping through our resistance (aka fears) to change, will ultimately feel more uncomfortable than the change itself.

Here are my Top 10 Reflections of what at times was a grueling and brutal couple of months:

  1. My knees and body are so much stronger than I feared going into this . Thousands upon thousands of stair trips and stress and I came out on the other side just fine, if not better.
  1. My kitties adjusted faster to the new place when I stopped worrying about them adjusting. It was really me I was worried about adjusting.
  1. Purging = Freedom + You get to be a daymaker for many others who need exactly what you are purging.
  1. I still have a lot of stuff.
  1. Home appraisers are often feared by buyers and sellers but I found that they can have both an open heart and still follow the guidelines.
  1. I’m proud that I waited for the feeling I received when I walked into my new home for the first time. And I was definitely trying to make a few other homes work out of fear of not finding a place. Love, jobs, homes…makes no difference….wait until you get the feeling. Your internal guidance system works. If you’re not feeling it, it’s not the one.

4. God gets through your fears during difficult times and is still loving, protecting and          guiding everything.

3. It’s ok to be and act human. Perfection is so overrated.

  1. Home Inspectors just might see the real ‘you’ versus your cracks and flaws.  (Symbolism at its best.)
  1. I have the most wonderful and loving friends and family. I will forever remember and be grateful for their support and encouragement through endless selfless acts through the physical and emotional transition.

Yes, change is uncomfortable and hard and can rock our boats in ways that we didn’t expect, but we all have the strength within us to move forward AND allow in help along the way. Believe in yourself and have faith that you will be just fine. Because, you will.

Love and Gratitude,   Tammy
